Miami Vice, the movie, will be shooting some scenes in Uruguay, in three locations, Colonia, Atlantida, and Montevideo's historic neighborhood ("ciudad vieja"). The movie will be starred by Colin Farrel and Jamie Foxx, under Michael Mann's direction.
Colin has arrived last week to Uruguay. They are casting for extras, I've heard about 300 persons getting hired, at 90 dolars a day. Half of Atlantida's population will be playing cubans. Word is that some parts of Uruguay will be used to recreate "La Habana", after all the resemblance is stunning (...errr....mmm... weeeelll, how about.. no?).
I've a friend who'll act as a russian bodyguard, and driver, for a russian weapon's dealer (one of the movie's bad guys). He told me that they were looking for policemen, preferrably tall, blond ones, that could pass as russians, with very good english. When they found out that the cop fitting that profile has not been invented yet in uruguay, they hired my friend, who is a guns freak, and could pass as russian. My friend get's killed in a shooting (nico, don't forget us after you become a superstar! ;)

Word is that farrell is in a clinic because of an overdose he had last friday. The official version is that he's been taking some kind of drug for some backache, which has caused him addiction (yeahh, right..), and apparently even an overdose. Uruguayan sources said that rests of cocaine, and marihuana were found in his blood, along with a third unidentified drug. They say he went willingly to a rehab clinic. The whereabouts of this clinics are unknown.
Hey, I found your blog looking for more info about Colin's problem and the rehab.I hope you people who are living there could post some news from the local sources when there are! I really hope Colin is fine and will fight the problem, I know he will....so, will check this space again!
ok, the last thing i've heard was that he left on an american flight a couple of days ago. A new rumour spread over here was that he is addicted to heroin, couldn't find any supplier in Uruguay and went through abstinence syndrom. But again this information was just gossip. I didn't know colin spent part of his childhood in buenos aires. I guess after all, this part of the world is not that unknown to him.
Id say he could have been addicted to heroin as he has a history of dabbling in it and may have been using a treatment such as Subutex (a powerful substitute for smack) but he obviously has a taste for pain killers per se and poly drug use can lead to collapse, hope he's ok because I think he's a fantastic talent.
